Acceptance

Acceptance

When reflecting on what I have and have not accomplished in this life, I of course find that I am my own worst critic. Not every memory is picture perfect and some have been far from happy but to realize that this is my walk, no one else's, I've found peace.  It has been a life long walk and often, the moments when I stop to reflect on the journey have been the most rewarding.

There are times in your life that shape you.  I have definitely had my fill of them and am sure there are many more to come.  Some could look at the many failed moments in their life and fear the next steps but I say be brave. Walk into the unknown without a feeling of defeat due to the situations that didn't land in your favor.  Walk tall and accept that you are here, wherever that may be. And know that you have unlimited opportunities for greatness.

You have an amazing chance to make this the all time story and it is yours.  Accept your failures, your faults, and flaws. Note that some failures and flaws are what make you unique...they are what make you great.  If you look at them and want to change them then do so.  I remember before my book was published, feeling like I had failed at accomplishing my goals in life.  My job was not my career.  My daily routine was not how I saw my life.  Then I realized all of it helped to mold me into something greater.

My father always quotes the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr:

acceptance

I love hearing him say that.  It is a constant reminder to be kind to myself and that I have greatness in my grasp.  By embracing acceptance and acknowledging the areas in my life that need to change, I feel hope for tomorrow.  This is a wish for all of you.

Warmly,
