The arms of grace...
I remember when I was about 11yrs old, at a church youth group, our pastor Steve asked me to come forward and help him demonstrate an act of trust. I didn’t know what he meant by that but I knew I could trust him not by virtue of what he was but by WHO he was! So up I go, and he says just fall back, I will catch you, we do this 3 times and the last time, he let me fall to about 3 inches about the ground before he caught me. I remember just a thrill of fear but before it could bloom, he had caught me and restored me to standing. Save and sound.
This memory resurfaced recently while talking to a new friend and she was saying that when she is trying to create something and it’s not going as she wants; she visualizes herself falling back and letting go. It really struck home with me, let go and let God (divine), falling back into the arms of grace.
“Why can’t we surrender to some other way? We can come together on some other day. We won’t be lost forever. Help to ease my mind. Oh not just bigger and better. Its belief I have got to find.” Lindsay Fergason
One of my favorite things that Dr Wayne Dyer talks about is that we can trust that all of our needs will be met. He explains this by pointing out that for the first 9 months of our lives that everything is provided. We are snug and securer in our mother’s womb. And then he poses the question that if God provides so well for us then would he not provide for us outside of the womb as well, for the rest of our lives?
“I come into the peace of the wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief... For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
Wendell Berry
I promise that if you allow it and open your perception to see it, you will know that you have never endured a moment of existence where grace was not there to lift you up, and care for you! It is in the not letting go where we block ourselves; we can choose a better way, full of possibilities and safety nets.
Again manifesting is transmutation, changing something undesirable to something desirable. The Kyballion explains that; “mind may be transmuted from state to state; degree to degree, condition to condition, vibration to vibration. True hermetic transmutation is a mental act.” We know how to do this: make a decision of what we want; remove obstacles and blocks (that is the work part); see it, feel it and know it to already be here. Cultivate a sense of gratitude and the final part, and in my mind the hardest, let go detach to from the outcome and allow. If you do the work, by getting out of your own way, and letting go. You will get what you want or better, sometimes the better, has a sting but in hindsight it is always better.
“The mystic surrenders to the flow of god’s love, knowing that it flows naturally in the direction of the highest good of all. There is a spiritual beneficence at the centre of the universe. And as we gain though experience, more and more faith in that basic goodness. We learn to give up our efforts to control and instead begin to deeply trust.” Marianne Williamson
I know we can learn to let go and let God. Fall back into the arms of grace and cultivate a faith in ourselves that we will take the next right step, when it is presented. But other wise to rest, trustingly in the arms of the divine. So breath with me, let go and fall back into the arms of grace.
