ROCK BOTTOM
“They gave me a life that’s not so easy to live and then they sent me on my wayI left my love and forgot my dreams; I lost them along the way...
And what do I get to get me through these sleepless nights?
And what do I have to hold when no one’s there to hold me tight?
And what do I see the only thing that gets me through?
This is what I feel and I feel you.”
“I feel you”-3 doors down
I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have struggled to find a way up; away out of this “hell” I have found myself in again. Sometimes you feel so helpless, so out of control with what is happening in our lives. There just doesn’t seem to be away out. But somehow I always manage to move on and keep going, sometimes I even feel like I got ahead and doors are magically opening for me. Maybe because I am just to dam stubborn to give up. But in truth I think we all have the power and strength to move mountains. We were put here at this time for a reason, to do something, our soul’s purpose.
As it says in the quote above, "they, (including you) gave me this life that’s not so easy to live and sent me on my way." Yes, "sent" on your way but I believe with the experiences to give you the tools you need to get the job done. You can choose how you experience these lessons, if you let them they will cripple you and stop you from succeeding in your purpose or they can bring closer. Think of how much pressure a diamond needs to be under to become what it needs to truly shine.
“I'm tired of living in the dark, Can anyone see me down here
The feeling's gone, there’s nothing left to lift me up
Back into the world I've known. 'Cause now again I've found myself
So far down, away from the sun. That shines into the darkest place
I'm so far down, away from the sun. That shines to light the way for me
To find my way back into the arms. That care about the ones like me
I'm so far down, away from the sun again”
-3 doors down, “Away from the sun”
So the real question comes to the forefront are you willing to do the work, are you going to let someone or something determine your worth or what you can accomplish in your life. Or are you going get stubborn and say “F@*k you, I’m stronger than that.”
One of my favorite sayings in “Suck it up buttercup” not because I am insensitive to my own needs or the struggles of others but because I have seen so many time people haunted, by their past and they run from everything and never see their own strength because they never stand up for themselves.
Never love themselves enough to stop and see what they can do. Past is the past, how many conflicts both personally and globally could we fix or stop, in the present, if we could just let go of the past. You can’t change it, but you can change how you feel about it. So instead of hating yourself for your choices or someone else for their behavior let it go and set yourself free. Because Rock bottom is a hard place to be, it kills the spirit and deigns hope.
“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.” Khalil Gibran
Two of my favorite saying that I think about when I am struggling is first the Serenity Prayer:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.”
Reinhold Niebuhr
The second is:
“All is well, in my world. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this situation only good will come. I am safe”
Louise L Hay
I suggest you find your go to quotes or music, whatever speaks to your soul that helps you pick yourself up, and suck it up. Letting the past be the past focusing in the present and knowing that the future is yet unwritten and you can by your choices make it a heaven on earth. And I leave with this quote by one of my heroes: Helen Keller.
"Faith is the strength by which a shattered world shall emerge into the light."
In love and light,
Jenna Bertrim, Calling In The One Coach
