My Mom
Positive and inspiring comes to mind when I think of my mom. I watched a segment of 6 Minutes and I recall Bob Proctor saying be mindful of your influences. Well, I am fortunate to have someone that I love to be influenced by. As I grow, I watch my mom grow and sometimes I sit back like a proud parent. She has overcome many obstacles and remains joyful, loving and successful. I remember when days were so tough, the only thing I would look forward to was talking to her and the world would feel like a better place again.
She owns a restaurant opened for almost 12 years and now this year a Cafe, Saba Cafe. Even when the economy was going “down” and business were closing she not only survived, Saba’s Ethiopian Cuisine(yes named after me) was busy!
She almost never gets sick and if she does, it’s no longer than a day(week at the most). I don’t think I have ever even seen my mom cry unless at a funeral. Her strength is amazing and her ability to remain on top is inspiring. What I have collected from books etc… She lives it. Her hard work and positive attitude towards life has always rewarded her. I always ask myself, “What more can I learn from her?” And then I am never disappointed with the wisdom oozing from my beautiful Mother. I live to make her as proud as she makes me.
A sip of poem I wrote for her years back:
“If she wasn’t my mother I’d still be in God hands, but she is my mother because of God’s plans”
How about your mom, parents or someone around you that influenced you? What examples do they live that inspires your actions? Are you mindful of your surroundings, whether they are positive or negative? Share in the comments below…
