Maintaining Passion and Purpose

Maintaining Passion and Purpose in the Face of Life's Challenges

passion and purpose

-->
Yesterday, I bought a shirt that says: "Driven to Win."  And a full jogging suit...sneakers and all. I'm going to use it all as a metaphor to keep going, to tie my shoe laces, to face the cold, to put one foot in front of the other. To remember that, although I'll end up where I started (home), it's all about the journey. When I was younger, I was so good at it: maintaining passion and purpose in the face of life's challenges- so good, I didn't even know I was doing it! I used to roller-blade everywhere. I didn't realize it then but it was a great way to keep things rolling. I had to be in the moment, present...what a gift....

-Pray. Meditate. Silent your mind, the fears. They don't rule you. Some people do scrap books, some read, some take a walk, some clasp their hands in prayer, some ride a bike, some cook, some drive...

-Stay in touch with your aspirations and let them be a driving force in your life...when you feel lost, challenged, even when you feel right on track.  Write down your dreams/ goals, allow them to take form, even if it's only on paper for now.

-Know that challenges are a part of life, the natural cycle of things. I've been watching National Geographic Wild, and Planet Earth...envisioning visiting some of the wonderful places, witnessing life. I see how animals prepare for the winter, protect their young, travel together, let out their calls, and I think of us. We've created a life far removed from the true nature of things. If we look closely, though, we'll see that although we have houses for protection, we too must sustain the winter, we too must protect the young, we too must travel together, we too must let out our calls.

-Challenges are a part of the natural cycle. We must remember this and know that we have what it takes to sustain difficult weather. It's important to do and enjoy things that help you focus on the moment at times and on dreams at other times. Clarity about the future happens in the moment.
