Small Moments

Small Moments In Life…

“…A young man who was interviewed for the article said that if one person smiled at him as he walked to the bridge, he would not kill himself. No one smiled. He jumped, but lived to tell his story.”

I watched a clip of Mark Victor Hansen, Chicken Soup of the Soul, talking about a similar story of A man that left a note on his door stating if one person smiled at him he won’t jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. He finished with saying, “No one ever saw that man again.” Crazy, right?… How a small moment, of just a smile, can reflect grandly on someone’s life… Your life.

-Those suicide attempts & success was beyond one man/woman’s smile. -

But I still I think sometimes we get so caught up with getting from A-Z that we forget about the small moments that matters. Outside of the daily scheme of things there are moments happening now that your missing out on due to lack of appreciation or just plain taking things for granted.

One of our greatest teachers is death and/or even near death experiences. If you’ve read any of my articles you know I mention it a lot and yes, here I go again.
It was quiet the shocker for me to say the least to get news of the death of my father who died of a heart attack BUT after the wave of emotions came, the sweet & funny memories that reminded me of why I loved him & missed him.
When I reminisced it was the “small moments” that stuck with me & warmed my heart the most. My dad used to say things like, “Do you know how much I love you?” Moments like that made me feel loved that much more.

- I feel that knowing you are loved, hearing you are loved shifts & changes self-esteem, worth & confidence. You should never miss a small moment to tell someone how you feel. A hug & some love can go a long way.-

My dad was also very tough & “naturally” intimidating. He’d pick a fight with 10 men & not back down. Hence influencing my outspokenness & (sometimes) fearless strength drawn from moments I’ve watch him.

But before I thought to begin to write, it dawned me on how we reflect… It’s the small moments that touch our lives.

I also thought how we also over look the small, beautiful, subtle moments shaping our destiny right now. We allow them to creep passed us only to be reminded of the level of influence we have on our surroundings or vise versa when they are gone
.
small momentsCan you remember what it felt like to have a stranger smile at you, how they made you feel welcomed, waved when you allowed them to pass by when driving, opened or held a door out for you… Small moments that we take with us home, to work or where ever we are headed.

Do you remind the people you love how much you love them?

Are you aware of your actions or the level of influence you have on your surroundings… On Society? Because these small moments are what shape our/ your destiny.

Wouldn’t you agree it’s small moments spilling into BIG moments that make life either worthwhile or horrible?

If so, don’t take them for granted.

With Love,
