Relationships

I am no expert on relationships.

Although today I am single, I have come to the realization that you must, to avoid wasted time, ask these questions to you potential wife/husband:
What are qualities you look for in a Woman/Man?
What are your expectations?
What are your goals and where would I fit in them?
Do you believe in marriage?

After asking these questions, go do some personal searching and then ask yourself:

Is who they are describing me?

And will I comprise myself (beliefs/goals etc) to fit into his/her life?

There are a ton of books and methods that are highly effective in finding your soul mate, dealing with luggage, catching them, and keeping them. I suggest if struggling reach out to them and study the subject, heck, become an expert! We all float around with the idea that somehow we "know" everything. My friend, the industry wouldn't exists if that was the case.

Also, compromising yourself because of loneliness, unworthiness and low self-esteem is truly no way to live. You will in turn teach that to your children. I personally pride myself in not settling but I am continually working on softening my attitude, clearing up past relationships and coming into new ones with a fresh outlook, like on a new journey!

Relationships: The Healthy Balance Between Us and Me

There is something so special about the moment you realize someone loves you and the second you realize you love them back. Time stands still but your heart is pounding through your chest.  Love is a beautiful thing.  It can give you wings and make you sing at the top of your lungs when you think no one is listening.  You smile just because you're thinking of that person.  Throughout these whimsical moments though, you can get swept away in the us and forget about the me.

We are in relationships, not to forget about who we are when meeting the person who takes our breath away, but to find out more about ourselves and that interdependence that occurs in a healthy relationship.  I remember several times when I thought I had to be and act exactly how that other person wanted me to be to sustain the us.  I felt like a puppet on strings dancing to their tune.  What I ended up realizing is that when I was myself and who I wanted to be, my partner saw the best of me.  That doesn't mean sunshine and roses daily, but the sweetness of reality and living it with an amazing person next to me has made my life that much greater.  The person who I am with loves me for being me.  I don't have to be perfect.  I just have to be happy with who I am and happy with who I'm with.  I hope the same for all of you.
