Positive Self Talk - (REPOST) Archive

Positive Self Talk -
positive self talk

How you talk to yourself is more important than you can imagine. What you feel the world is withholding from you, you have the power to change it. Right now! Go to the mirror and acknowledge all you’ve done. Do it daily. Say things you’ve been waiting for someone to say. Start with, “I love you.” Or “I am beautiful.”

Jack Canfield (The Secret & Self Help Best Selling Author) spends time in the mirror acknowledging and encouraging himself, so why can’t you? You will find that becoming a better friend to yourself, you can be a better friend to the world.

How much negativity in put downs and let downs do you deal with?

How hard are you on yourself, hoping to get things right?

Well, positive self talk will shift your energy and inner dialog! You will strengthen that small voice of courage and self-esteem.

The difference between who you are and where you’re at is what you’re telling yourself and what you believe. And a belief is just something you say over and over again.

You can use positive self talk with affirmation to create your perfect self.

Creating your perfect self:

Much like the list I have for my perfect man, I have one for my perfect self. I drew my list from my past experience of likes and dislikes from people. Funny thing is that’s what life truly is about; molding and sculpting yourself from all walks of life-to choose over and over what you want and what you don’t. Most focus too much on the dislikes and what they hate that they don’t see the deep underlying purpose.

I consistently and consciously take the good from the bad. It gives me much peace of mind. I then turn it into creating an even better outlook, so I can be aware of them now in my experiences.

All things exist here and now, just at your level of awareness, which is guided by your focus. Focus on your list of your new self and build an image that your subconscious must respond too.

Start with I am_______.

List positive characteristics & attributes of people you admire.

You will start to notice you all ready carry some but with all the negative not positive self talk, like a sun shine coming out of the clouds, it will now be easier to see. With positive self talk you can amplify your awareness by your focus & attention on it.

Positive self talk, self-image and self-esteem is also essential to success in all areas.

For people respond to how you carry yourself and how you carry yourself is from how you see yourself.

With Love,

positive self talk

Self Esteem

Self Esteem: Back to You

Self-expression is undeniably a part of self-esteem. As you come into yourself, and begin to express who you truly are, you develop self-esteem.

Yes, I believe that self-esteem, unlike what should be yours from birth—a sense of worthiness—is developed.

We often hear of teens and tweens having low self-esteem, but low self-esteem is not restricted for the youngins.   I believe that the secret to having high self esteem is discovering your passion and expressing yourself! Do what you love and you will discover that you are what you love—that you are love.

There will be those times you doubt yourself but when you know a thing about what you love, you will get back to self-expression in no time. Then, you will get back to you.

SWAG

SWAG

swag
I have observed and learned in life that confidence is connected to success. Self-image, self-worth, self-esteem all tie into confidence—it's key.  We can all agree you don’t have to be the best looking,

best dressed, or best shape to be confident. I believe the term “SWAG” sums it up. It's how you carry and see yourself…it's what you project. You are not born with it, it's built. The foundation has to start within your mind. It's what you repeat to yourself on a daily basis or better yet what is NOT repeated.

To begin to build confidence aka "swag" I would start at being REAL with yourself.

Write down all the negative attributes you THINK you carry. Identify what you may feel you lack confidence in. I would then recommend accepting it for what it is worth because what you resist will persist. Last write the opposite of the negative to a positive and in the present tense. Own the “new” you! If repeated consistently to yourself it will create a shift in your mind and gradually you will walk tall and feel good.

Like the things you want in life, you should have a list of the “picture” perfect you. Qualities, attributes...etc. you intend to become. What is also a BIG plus is surrounding yourself with the right people that holds those qualities.

With Love,

Where Does Self-Esteem Come From?

Where Does Self-Esteem Come From?

Jane Elliot did the famous Brown Eyed, Blue Eyed Experiment in 1968.  During this test she said that people with one eye color were smarter than people with the other eye color.  Then Jane Elliot switched her "findings" a week later to the other eye color, stating they were in fact more intelligent than the previous group.

While today we know that she was doing this in response to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, making sure her students were more culturally aware, this experiment also was very useful when looking at confidence and self-esteem.  When Mrs. Elliot told some of her students they weren't as smart as her other students their confidence and self-esteem went down—they felt less than.  Her study showed that students who had done really well on tests the week before were, on average, were scoring 30% lower.  Why do you think this was?  It wasn't because magically a week later they were an inferior person or had lost their smarts somewhere along the way.  The reason had to do with their belief in themselves.
Looking back at your life, have you ever noticed after someone who you looked up to, cared about, or thought highly of put you down, your confidence was shattered? Recognizing and finding ways to combat that issue is key.  Everyone saw Jane Elliot as the authority figure, which meant she must have be right about who was smarter...right??? We know that using that experiment and telling those kids they weren't smart was to combat a greater issue of respect for all cultural backgrounds, it also proved just how the mind can be manipulated based on outside sources. Regardless of if it is a test or not, these moments will come up in your life where you will question yourself.  While I think constant questioning and self-improvement is important in your evolutionary process, I also think it is important to believe in yourself no matter what any outside source tells you.

When I wasn't done with my multi-cultural children's book, I had plenty of people believing I would fail, never finish, or never do anything with it after it was published.  On one hand, there were mini moments of doubt where I worried about why I was spending fourteen hours a day working on a dream when life was going by. I had things I needed to get done but I also knew that this book was something I had dreamed about since I was a young girl and I wasn't going to let someone else dictate as to whether that dream would be a success or failure—only I could do that for myself.  When I did finally get it published I found myself thinking, 'Ha! I was right!'  I believed in myself and that was what took me through.  Then I looked at what I had just accomplished and realized it was far greater than just publishing my book.  I followed a dream regardless of what other people told me and those who had supported me all along the way, I knew that with their support I got through the rough patches and made it to my next plateau.

If you are having trouble with self-esteem and confidence look at what negative voices are surrounding you, telling you that you are no go, not smart, or that you are unable to achieve your goals.

Are they your friends?  Are they someone you should be looking up to?  Do they care? Surround yourself with people who support your dreams and remember to believe.  Jane Elliot taught a valuable lesson surrounding this issue and I hope you will take this study and my words to heart.
