How to Find and Live Your Passion

How to Find and Live Your Passion

how to find and live your passion
One of my earliest passions was poetry. I would do it without acknowledgement. I’d rarely share but when I did it was purely for pleasure. It was something quite like an escape from the world. I would dig deep, draw from experiences or observations and pour from the strongest emotions. I could write for hours. It healed so much in my life to have that type of release it later encouraged me to turn it into a book so others could experience the same.
I believe it has now evolved into the writing and work I am doing today.
I am sharing so you see when you know or desire to find your passion there are something’s to help you become aware:

-Is it something you’d do for free?
-Or what would you do for free if you had all the time in the world?
-Does it feel like work when you do it?
-Or what do you do that doesn’t feel like work?
-Better yet what do you love to do?
-Is it something that feels natural?
-Does hours seem like minutes doing it?

Recognizing your passion and applying it to your career is the greatest thing you could ever do and offer the world. I have never heard of a passionate person hating their job but above that they are the most successful people I could ever have learned from.

Don’t think for a second your profession has to be a cookie cut job. Everyday I am wowed by the amount of people successful with out a drop of formal education in their field: Les Brown, Tony Robbins & Bob Proctor to name a few.

Above all happiness, fulfillment, joy and a greater connection to your purpose are wrapped up in your passions.

“True masters are those who’ve chosen to make a life rather than a living.”  Neale Donald Walsch

Its funny how many people I’d ask if money wasn’t an option what would you do and the answer is never what they are currently doing…

It also funny because I was them and the toughest thing I could ever do was to give up everything to get out of the fears crippling me to begin again & whole heartily live. Working my job although “promising” felt like a death sentences something in me was dyeing, I felt it. I would look around and rarely inside me to find out what was wrong. But deep down I knew.

I became alive when I began my writing career and nothing can replace the feeling of inspired writing. I also live my dharma when coaching because I love knowing I made a difference in someone’s life.

I say perfect your passion, draw from that incredible energy and take it to the next level. It makes life truly vibrant.

With Love,

Maintaining Passion and Purpose

Maintaining Passion and Purpose in the Face of Life's Challenges

passion and purpose

-->
Yesterday, I bought a shirt that says: "Driven to Win."  And a full jogging suit...sneakers and all. I'm going to use it all as a metaphor to keep going, to tie my shoe laces, to face the cold, to put one foot in front of the other. To remember that, although I'll end up where I started (home), it's all about the journey. When I was younger, I was so good at it: maintaining passion and purpose in the face of life's challenges- so good, I didn't even know I was doing it! I used to roller-blade everywhere. I didn't realize it then but it was a great way to keep things rolling. I had to be in the moment, present...what a gift....

-Pray. Meditate. Silent your mind, the fears. They don't rule you. Some people do scrap books, some read, some take a walk, some clasp their hands in prayer, some ride a bike, some cook, some drive...

-Stay in touch with your aspirations and let them be a driving force in your life...when you feel lost, challenged, even when you feel right on track.  Write down your dreams/ goals, allow them to take form, even if it's only on paper for now.

-Know that challenges are a part of life, the natural cycle of things. I've been watching National Geographic Wild, and Planet Earth...envisioning visiting some of the wonderful places, witnessing life. I see how animals prepare for the winter, protect their young, travel together, let out their calls, and I think of us. We've created a life far removed from the true nature of things. If we look closely, though, we'll see that although we have houses for protection, we too must sustain the winter, we too must protect the young, we too must travel together, we too must let out our calls.

-Challenges are a part of the natural cycle. We must remember this and know that we have what it takes to sustain difficult weather. It's important to do and enjoy things that help you focus on the moment at times and on dreams at other times. Clarity about the future happens in the moment.

Passion and Purpose

Maintaining Passion and Purpose In Challenging Times
passion and purpose

There are times that passion is hard to come by. Mainly, these times come when the world around you seems to be on autopilot. You are a bystander in your own life. Everything seems to encompass another stressful piece needing to be fixed, figured out, decided, changed, or thrown out.

During this holiday season, I have had the luxury of a mini break from college and at first, I started filling up my schedule with plans. Then pretty soon, I saw no break at all, just a To-Do-List that didn't seem to end. I felt overwhelmed and tired and my break hadn't even started. That's when something happened. I realized I was planning my life away.

There was no passion for me when looking at extreme compartmentalization. I had put family into a section, projects into another, boyfriend into another, research studies, my children's book, and Christmas shopping into sections as well. Where was the fun time in my holiday? I saw it on the schedule but did I feel passionate about what I was doing? I felt autopilot kick in and I was watching myself race from place to place, like a puppet and someone else was holding my strings.

I looked at my calendar and started to take out a whole bunch of stuff! That To-Do-List turned to skin and bones. Then I thought about what I was doing right then and there, letting the wheels turn. What did I want to do right now?... Perhaps read? I had a stack of books I have to read for pursuit in higher learning... Statistics weren't giving me goosebumps with anticipation unfortunately. Right after this moment I was notified that I had a package come in the mail...

When I opened it, I felt like a five year old ripping open an early Christmas gift. And there in that box was a book I had preorder last year that I completely forgot was coming (thank you amazon for remembering). I had a two minute geek out moment like I used to in my teen years, dancing around and holding my book like it was a trophy and I had come in first place.

Doing these constant similes and references of different points of my life brings me to my point-find something you love, whatever that may be and make time for it. It doesn't have to be a book, but it does have to be something that impassions you. Something you can do when no one else is around. Something that makes you feel free. And believe me, when that freedom comes back, passion and purpose re-enter your life with a new found vigor!

Happy Holidays!
