Judgmental People
It came to me to write about judgmental people . Because of the damage it causes not only to the person being judge but the person judging. Judgment is a very negative behavior. Judgmental people are very common in my (Ethiopian) community. Now, if more positive encouragement were carried in conversations the dynamic of the relationships between each other would shift. Not just within adults, with young adults and teens.
Most conversation between the young
and elders is more of an interrogation. It almost like the conversation is used
to shine a light on a weakness or insecurity. A casual hello could turn into: marriage,
weight, education etc..
Most conversation between most
adults in our community is gossip. What so and so is doing with their life, how
bad someone is etc…
But there wouldn't be as many judgmental people if we educated ourselves about
the power our tongue.
If more judgmental people knew how powerful words are they wouldn't dare waste a word focusing on the negatives. Or talk about someone negatively.
Karma is not physical. What I mean,
it is not just about what you do. Karma is energy it’s the energy you project
into the world that comes back you. Gossip and judgment carry negative energies.
Now much of my talk is positive BUT
negatives can serve some. Some negative feedback and comments I’ve encountered
has driven me to accomplishment. Some comments drive me up a wall! But when
that happens I think this:
Judge those who judge you makes you no better than
them.
Yes, it is all-relative.
But the destruction and damage it
can cause some who has not developed thick skin can lead them down a path of
low self-esteem, defensive behaviors and self-sabotage. In return those who
caused/contribute to it, haven’t or won’t amount too much either.
I believe it is better to lead by
example then to impose your will on another that might affect them negatively.
In conversations focusing on the
positive will serve the one speaking as well as the one spoken to or about.
Judgmental People: You
have the power to uplift or nit pick. You have the power to brighten or dim
someone’s day. You hold that power with judgment or encouragement.
With Love,
judgmental people
